About

From a macro view, my work addresses barriers between people, and barriers to self-actualization. This manifests in two distinct bodies of work. In one, I look into the broad context of how people behave in public, and the way an unexpected object can prompt an interaction between strangers during their daily routines.  This work is about the physical spaces between here and there. Through both artifact and performance, I engage these spaces to create moments of interruption; periods in which I invite others to suspend their notion of habit and normalcy. By finding the optimal point of leverage I work to affect a subtle change in how others perceive space and information.

When examining issues of identity, my work shifts to the individual barriers that prevent others from projecting their true selves. In my own life it is through my vulnerability that I connect with others, creating the opportunity for mutual understanding. This vulnerability, and a conscious effort to live with intention, work as a filter to process personal trauma. Using these same filters, I look to better share the stories of others and create healthy space. In both of these practices I use myself as an intermediary to create repeated acts of positive change, one moment at a time.
